Cyrian. I had believed him dead along with everyone else at the academy. If Cyrian managed to escape then perhaps there are other students who survived the attack. I will have to ask. First things first. Cyrian has managed to loose his way. His perception of himself is no longer clear. Either he has lost his way or he has forgotten what it means to be Jedi. I don't believe that a Jedi would use his powers the way Cyrian did in the competition. I understand he was the champion for some time until someone defeated him. Cyrian kept his place by using the force against his opponents. Slowing down a blow, turning a kick. The long term effects of this technique undermine the confidence of your opponent. They lose faith in their abilities. In their skills. Their self doubt becomes their undoing. In the heat of combat where life and death are at stake, this is one thing. But in a competition like the Mu'Tai it is inappropriate.

I believe that the Mu'Tai has also lost it's place. It's soul if you will indulge my metaphor. Those who fight do not fight to test their skill against another. They fight for the glory of combat. For the joy of becoming the victor.

Master Li set his students in combat so both would learn about themselves and another. I would offer what advice or observations that I could for my opponents when the combat was through. Some would listen, some would not. Some would offer their observations, some would not. The Mu'Tai has become about the spectacle of combat. No longer is it about testing your skill against another, now it's about winning. Winning at any cost.
